Cleaning Procedure:
To ensure good adhesion to a surface it is critical that you follow these recommended procedures in decontaminating and preparing the surface prior to any vinyl product installation.
1. Wash and rinse the area with liquid dish detergent and warm water.
2. Dry the surface with a clean, lint-free towel or cloth.
3. Wipe down the entire area with Isopropyl Alcohol and you now are ready to apply the vinyl decal.
Application:
A vinyl decal comes in three pieces:
• The top layer is called the transfer tape or pre-mask
• The middle layer is called the vinyl decal
• The bottom layer is called the backing
To apply a decal correctly you will need:
• Isopropyl Alcohol or Methylated Spirits
• A clean Lint Free Cloth
• Squeegee
• Water in Spray Bottle (optional)
1. Saturate a lint free cloth with the Alcohol or Metho and wipe the surface where decal will be placed removing all contaminants.
2. Peel decal off backing paper.
3. Lightly spray sticky surface of decal with water (optional).
4. Stick top of decal onto your substrate while holding bottom of decal out slightly.
5. Starting from top of decal squeegee all the way down to the bottom.
6. Carefully remove Application paper from the decal.
Do not apply decal in cold weather - adhesive may stick but will lift easily.
Do not apply decal in extreme heat - vinyl will get very soft and stretch.
Do not use alcohol to apply decal - it will destroy the adhesive.
Do not touch the decals adhesive backing - oils from your skin will prevent sticking.
Do not point high pressure car wash nozzle at the edges of the decal - it may lift or break pieces.
Do not apply decal to newly waxed car - adhesive may stick but will lift easily.
Do not apply wax over graphics, especially if the wax contains any petroleum distillates.
